The Tobacco-Free College Campus Initiative is proud to start the second season of the TFCCI Webinar Series into 2016. The TFCCI Webinar Series is an educational audio/visual platform that will engage college campuses, students, and beyond on the important, broader issues in tobacco prevention.

Looking for ways to help your campus quit tobacco? Then join us for the first installment of the 2016 TFCCI Webinar Series. We will explore how college campuses are addressing cessation across the country, as well as take an in-depth look at This is Quitting, a novel, multimedia cessation program for young adult smokers developed by the Schroeder Institute for Tobacco Research and Policy Studies at Truth Initiative. Esteemed speakers include Megan Jacobs of the Truth Initiative and Alex Bell, Student Health Services Coordinator at Allan Hancock College.

Research shows a strong majority of students prefer smoke- or tobacco-free policies, so as the greatest stakeholders in this issue, your voice needs to be heard louder. In this webinar, learn better how you can be a leader in this movement and inspire your peers to action and get decision-makers on your campus to change policy. You’re invited to join us for the first session in the TFCCI webinar series – Women and Tobacco: Why Gender Matters! In this webinar, we are celebrating Women’s Health by focusing on women and tobacco:

Assistant Surgeon General, RADM Nadine Simons, MS, RNNadine Simons is a nurse in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps and is the Region 9 Health Administrator (RHA). She will provide Opening Remarks.

Maria Perno Goldie, RDHImmediate Past President, International Federation of Dental Hygienists, will share how smoking and tobacco use pose a serious risk of death and disease for women as well as the effects of tobacco use on the oral cavity.

Jean O’Connor, JD, MPH, DrPH,Chronic Disease Prevention Director of the Georgia Department of Public Health, will describe their efforts to use data to better understand demographic and geographic patterns of maternal smoking and attempts to quit, as well as the challenges encountered in reaching the population of women who smoke for the entire duration of their pregnancies.

Michelle Hoersch, MS, the Region V Women’s Health Coordinator for Office on Women’s Health, will discuss the connection between stress and trauma, and how we can address smoking cessation through coping and harm reduction.
